2021 ICUnity and Ithaca College Asian American Alliance
Virtual Focus Asia Month Alumni Panel

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, Ithaca College's affinity organization 

ICUnity and the student organization IC Asian American Alliance collaborated to host a special panel event featuring 5 Ithaca College alumni of Asian American descent.

 

This event, part of Ithaca College's Focus Asia Month festivities, attracted 20+ Ithaca College students, alumni, and other campus community members. It was officially covered in a news feature by Ithaca College's Media Relations team.

Alumni speakers include:

  • Ami Maki '94 - Chief Exhibitions and Collections Officer, SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art)

  • Vivian Lin '15 - AAPI Success Coach/Academic Advisor, Bunker Hill Community College

  • Tarshene Miller-Greaves '91 - Online and Hybrid Adjunct Business Professor, St. Francis College and Endicott College

  • Elena Haskins '18 - Product Designer, EPIX and Founder, CONVERGE

  • Kathleen Barnes '19 - Coordinator, Education Wing Operations, Carnegie Hall

My responsibilities included:

  • Served as the Event Moderator, asking questions and leading conversations related to career advice, the Asian American experience, self-care tips, and more to the alumni speakers

  • Initatied the partnership and collaboration with Ithaca College Asian American Alliance via introductory and event planning meetings

  • Drafted social media copy for content promoted on Ithaca College Asian American Alliance's Facebook and Instagram accounts

  • Recruited and onboarded all alumni speakers; supported event production and day-of logistics
