My name is Jamie Shum, and I’m a recruitment, event, and marketing strategist, community and relationship builder, speaker, and educator based in the New York Metro area.

Currently, I work as an Admissions Advisor at Purchase College, SUNY. In my role, I’m re-purposing my industry skills in public speaking, communication, relationship building, recruitment, customer service, event planning, public relations and more to helping prospective students as they explore their next steps in their education and career.

Previously, I was the Digital Marketing and Events Coordinator at FindSpark, a career education and professional development startup that works with employers to support their diversity and inclusion, early career recruitment, and employer branding initiatives via curated hiring events and branded content.

Prior to that, I was the Social Media and Content Strategist for Cennarium, a performing arts subscription-based video streaming platform start-up founded in Brazil. I also participated in Ruder Finn's highly-competitive Executive Training Program, completed internships in the higher education, non-profit, entertainment, and art sectors, and held various leadership positions on student organizations at my alma mater Ithaca College.

Since April 2018, I serve as the Director of Engagement on the Executive Board of Directors of ICUnity, Ithaca College’s affinity organization that connects underrepresented students, alumni, campus community partners, and allies, online and offline. Founded in 2002, ICUnity hosts diversity and inclusion-related events, designed to promote inclusive social interaction and facilitate intercultural communication.

Additionally, I’m the Webmaster on the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Tri-State District’s Board of Directors, which serves and supports PRSA members in the New York, New Jersey, Greater Connecticut, and Westchester/Fairfield chapters. PRSA Tri-State District hosts a variety of professional development intiatives and events, including the annual PRSA Tri-State District Conference that takes place in New York City during the fall.

I’m a proud alum and Magna cum Laude graduate of Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication Management and Design, with a minor in Music.

In my free time, you can find me exploring museums, parks, restaurants and dessert shops in New York City, catching up on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Jeopardy!, playing with cats, reading a good book, or listening to music and figuring out harmonies by ear (especially Mariah Carey – check out my recent press quote about my time at the Mariah Carey Experience Pop-Up on Billboard here).

I'm always looking to build my skills and meet professionals to collaborate with on recruitment efforts, events and programs. Interested in chatting? Feel free to reach out – let’s connect!
